Somehow half a year has flown by already!

I can't believe our little man is about to be 6 months old!  Time is definitely flying in our household!
Mateus at 6 months...
- Loves rediscovering his feet everyday
- Can sit up unassisted (with someone very close behind to catch him when he topples over)
- Has his 2 bottom teeth coming in
- Wants to put EVERYTHING in his mouth
- Loves his oatmeal cereal
- Is now fascinated (and distracted) by Nala every time she walks by
- Felt grass for the first time and loved it so much he kept going back for more
- Loves to "workout" in his jumper
- Continues to have the best easy going personality and wonderful smile :-)

Mateus has a tooth!

Mateus has his first tooth!  Joe discovered it yesterday.  He's been mouthing anything and everything for weeks no so we knew it was bound to appear sooner rather than later.
He's had a great week with his oatmeal cereal (we switched from the rice cereal) and he now "sits" for meals like a big boy and grunts and sputters cereal everywhere throughout the whole eating process.  Thank goodness he has such a nice selection of clothing for this age as between the cereal messes and new kind of poopy diapers, he rotates outfits often.
The nice weather this week has allowed them to get outside at daycare for walks and watching the big kids play.  We've been told that Mateus and his friend Fletcher hold hands during the walks but that sometimes Mateus isn't such a big fan of this social interaction and will instead try to eat Fletcher's hand.  And we wonder how germs get passed around!
Mateus also now has figured out how to move his legs in jumper.  Here he is getting his morning exercise.....

Is needing less help to sit up by himself
Loves to stand up and gets a big smile on his face every time he does it
Loves bath time with Daddy

Is finding more and more things to put in his mouth
Discovered the cats and will follow them with his eyes
Now weighs 15.5 lbs
Endured his first fever :-(
Still is no where near sleeping through the night despite mommy's wishes!
Continues to use his voice and have conversations. (see video)

Mateus Found His Feet!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Although no Irish genes, Mateus still makes an adorable little leprachaun :-)  This was his outfit for green day at daycare.  This was the smile that I got early Friday morning as he pooped through 3 diapers, 2 onesies and peed on himself.  This was all before 7 am!  Happy Friday to Mom!
Mateus had his 4 month check up this past week.  He is now weighing in at 14.25 lbs and is 2 feet long.  He falls somewhere in the 20th percentile for height and weight and the 70th percentile for head size.  Just a bit disproportionate :-)
He was a trooper yet again with his shots- barely cried and gave quite the show to the nurse and doctor- showing off his nice set of vocal cords and smiles.  Quite the charmer this little guy.
The pediatrician also gave us the go ahead to introduce cereal.  Here is a picture of his first experience.....

He actually quite enjoyed the cereal (what got in his mouth anyway) but was not a fan of sitting in the bumbo seat for too long.  Needless to say we purchased a highchair today.
Mateus also had a Friday night date with his friend Lilly.  They haven't seen each other in over 2 months.  They definitely acknowledged each other more this time except Mateus may need to work on his interaction with girls...trying to eat their hands is not going to help his dating life. :-)

And just because...Here is a picture of a sleeping Mateus.  This is what I walked in on Friday morning at 6:30.  Too bad he didn't look quite so content at midnight, 2 and 4 am.

Mateus at 4 months old.......

Looks now less like a baby and more like a little boy
Has better head, neck, and trunk support that has allowed him to try new things (i.e. hello Exersaucer!)
Now rolls side to side in his crib and even turned himself 180 degrees one night
Has "accidentally rolled over on 3 occasions and looks surprised each time
No longer is content with just staying on his tummy during tummy time and will quickly share with you how frustrated he is when he can't roll over
Has finally noticed the cats!
Follows you with his eyes when you move about the room
Watched his first video "Petting Farm" and expressed his excitement when he saw the cats (maybe he will share Mom's favorite animal? :-)
Has endured his first cold and still smiles despite it
Has yet to let Mom have a good night's sleep (she's still hopeful that it will happen one day!)
Has made many new friends at daycare and looks at them when introduced in the mornings
Has learned the power of his legs and puts them on display both while sitting in his bouncer and while "dancing" when he is held up
Has learned to see if his sly smile will get him out of bedtime or feedings- we may be in trouble!
